Products Description of K-CATALYST CAS#1318-93-0

Montmorillonite (CAS# 1318-93-0), historically referenced as microcrystalline kaolinite or collinite, is a soft phyllosilicate aluminosilicate mineral first identified in Montmorillon, France. Structurally classified as a 2:1 smectite-group clay, its molecular architecture consists of a central octahedral alumina sheet sandwiched between two silica tetrahedral layers. In its natural form, it precipitates from aqueous environments into microscopic, plate-shaped clay crystals. Individual platelets average around 1μm in diameter with an ultra-thin profile of approximately 0.96nm, requiring high-power electron microscopy (around 25,000×magnification) to resolve their nanoscale morphologic structure.
